Henry and Pires to stay
Thierry Henry and Robert Pires will stay at Arsenal - even if Patrick Vieira decides to quit Highbury for a £22million move to Real Madrid. Wenger and vice-chairman David Dein met with Vieira last night at the team’s Austrian training base and made it clear to the player that while they sympathise will his dilemma, they need to know as soon as possible about his intentions.
The meeting came as speculation grew in Spain that Vieira is preparing to hand in a transfer request. If Vieira does go, it is understood French team-mates Henry and Pires will not follow him out of Highbury. Both players have told friends that they intend to stay out of loyalty to Arsene Wenger.
