Angulo rejects move to Highbury
安古洛拒絕海布里

Arsène Wenger was frustrated by former rival Claudio Ranieri yesterday when the Arsenal manager was thwarted in his attempts to bring Valencia forward Miguel Angel Angulo to Highbury.
溫格沒有能夠競爭得過前敵拉捏利﹐這位阿森納教練企圖將巴倫西亞前鋒安古洛帶到海布里的舉動遭到阻撓。
Angulo was ready to leave Valencia and former Chelsea head coach Ranieri, now in charge at the Mestalla, after the clubs had agreed a fee of ￡3.5 million. The 27-year-old, who claimed to have rejected a similar offer from Chelsea, had even undergone the first part of a medical, but late on Monday night decided to remain in Spain.

The player's agent insisted the decision was down to Angulo's fear about failing to settle in the Premiership and the English way of life and although Arsenal refused to comment, it is understood the demands of Jose Luis Tamargo had a considerable influence on the breakdown of the transfer.

Tamargo said: "Angulo didn't feel he had sufficient strength for a change of lifestyle. Fear overcame him that he could not fit in at Arsenal, nor with the English lifestyle.

However, while one player had decided to stay away, another explained why he was remaining with Wenger. Patrick Vieira, who rejected a move to Real Madrid in the summer, said: "While I was being linked to Real Madrid a lot of things were being said but I didn't express myself on it for a long time because I wanted to make the best decision.
