Pires welcomes Wenger news

France midfielder Robert Pires has welcomed the "very good news" that Arsene Wenger is set to sign a new deal as Arsenal manager.
The Gunners unveiled a spectacular £100m sponsorship with Emirates Airlines on Tuesday and Wenger also revealed he expects to shortly announce an extension of his own contract with the Premiership champions.
Official confirmation could come when Arsenal hold their annual general meeting at Highbury on Thursday and Pires maintained everyone is excited by the challenges ahead.
"This is very good news," declared the French winger. "Arsene Wenger has done a fantastic job and is a tremendous manager. There are a lot of challenges still in front of him and the club - the new stadium and the Champions League are among them."
Pires added in the London Evening Standard: "This new contract is the best sign the club can show for their ambition. As long as Arsene Wenger is the boss, Arsenal will be a very ambitious club."
