Wenger calm over conceding four goals at Spurs

Arsène Wenger is not unduly worried by the goals Arsenal conceded in Saturday’s North London derby.

After a turbulent 5-4 win at White Hart Lane, the manager admitted the only time he enjoyed the game was “when we were two goals in front”.

Arsenal achieved that three times – at 3-1, 4-2 and 5-3 – but on each occasion let Spurs reduce the arrears. The champions have now conceded 17 goals in their 13 Premiership games but Wenger does not want to draw any conclusions from Saturday.

“I put this derby in a special context,” he said. “If you look at it, Tottenham did not create a lot of chances within the game itself. They all came from set-pieces apart from the fourth goal.

“It is strange because last season we had the best defence in the Premiership with the same players.

“However we are a little bit smaller as unit. In the middle of the park just Patrick is tall. We have less big players than we are used to having.”
