...on the performance "It was a difficult game. Liverpool were very disciplined, very focused and physically strong . It was a disappointing first half where we did not put a lot together. It was a straight kick from the keeper and it finished in our net. But we have to take that. Everything went against us and we have to show we are strong enough to deal with it."

...on why Arsenal were below their best "We looked like we suffered from fatigue in the first half. Liverpool looked sharper than us. We gave a lot on Wednesday and we finished with nine men. I don’t know if that is an explanation. I still feel there is not a lot wrong but if you don’t get the results things become wrong. We have to show mental strength."

...on the team's confidence "I don’t think we lack confidence. It was a similar game last year which we won 2-1. We had a disappointing first half but in the second half we killed the game off. We nearly did that today at 1-1. But we were not incisive enough and Liverpool defended well. It is difficult to pick out one individual who is not doing well. But at the moment we are dropping points in games we should not."

...on Chelsea's five-point lead "I am not really too concerned about what Chelsea are doing, I am more concerned with us. If you don’t get the points no matter if it is Chelsea or anybody else then you do not compete. We have to regroup and find our way back to our best form."
