Henry in contention for FIFA award

- Thierry Henry -
Thierry Henry has been named as a finalist for Fifa's World Player of Year award.
The French striker finished second in last year's poll behind compatriot Zinedine Zidane. This year he is up against Ronaldinho of Barcelona and AC Milan's Andriy Shevchenko for the prestigious honour.
Henry was a key figure as Arsenal won the Premiership title and completed an unbeaten season earlier this year.
He was named Player of the Year by the Football Writers' Association and the PFA, and won the Golden Boot after finishing the 2003/04 campaign as the Premiership's top goalscorer. Henry has scored 14 goals so far this season.
The winner of the award will be announced on Monday, December 20 at Fifa's World Player Gala, which will be held at the Zurich Opera House in Switzerland.
Fifa has changed the panel of voters for this year's awards. Male and female captains of every national team will be able to vote, as well as their coaches and Fipro, the global organization for professional football players.
