1992年巴塞罗那奥运会

    第25届奥运会1992年7月25日~8月9日在西班牙巴塞罗那举行。共有170个国家和地区的9364名运动员参加了比赛，其中女运动员2705人。本届奥林匹克圣火于6月5日上午11时45分由希腊著名女演员玛丽娅·帕布基于奥林匹亚引燃。火炬传递至雅典后，用轮船于13日晚运抵西班牙海岸城市埃恩普里斯。随后进行了在西班牙本土穿越全国17个自治大区625个中小城镇的接力传递，于7月24日到达巴塞罗那，全程3964公里，历时43天。     本届奥运会共破19项世界纪录，其中田径3项、游泳9项、射箭5项、自行车2项。中国运动员在本届奥运会上表现出色，共获16枚金牌，22枚银牌，16枚铜牌，进入金牌榜前四名。

    1996年是现代奥运的百年诞辰，7月19日至8月4日在美国亚特兰大举行的第26届奥运会实现了奥运家庭的大团圆。     本届比赛中设26个大项271个小项，共有来自世界197个国家和地区的10788名运动员参加了各项比赛的角逐，各国选手经过17天的激烈争夺共打破25项世界纪录。上述数字皆创造了奥运会历史上的新纪录。     金牌榜上，美国、俄罗斯、德国分获前三，中国代表团面对种种不利条件，团结拼搏，获得了16金22银12铜的可喜成绩，金牌、奖牌榜均列第四，实现了冲击第二集团首位的预定目标。此外，中国代表团还有两人4次打破4项世界记录，乒乓球襄括4金。值得一提的是，中国代表团的男运动员们经过不懈努力，突破性地夺得7金9银5铜，向世界展现了我国男子运动员的实力。香港和中国台北运动员在此次奥运会上分别夺得一金一银。

    共有来自国际奥委会199个会员协会的10651名运动员（其中女运动员4069名，男运动员6582名）参加了这届奥运会总共27个大项41个分项300个小项的比赛. 在竞赛成绩方面，本届奥运会也是成功的，不仅创造了多个项目的世界纪录，而且涌现了众多明星运动员。中国代表团此次派出311名运动员参赛，以金牌28枚、奖牌总数59枚的优异成绩一举跃入了奖牌榜世界三强行列，这两项指标不仅都创下了中国自参加奥运会以来的单届最高纪录，而且均名列世界第三位。     本届奥运会还有其它一些重要事件：南、北朝鲜的运动员再次携手出现在了国际体育舞台，在开、闭幕式的入场仪式中，来自朝鲜半岛的两国运动员均行进在同一面代表团旗帜下。四名东帝汶运动员以个人身份参加了本届奥运会。35岁的马里亚·伊萨贝尔·乌鲁蒂亚在女子举重75千克以下级中夺得冠军，为哥伦比亚获得了第一枚奥运会金牌。
