Henry: A draw was a fair result
By Richard Clarke
Despite missing a glorious late chance to win the game, Thierry Henry thought the 2-2 draw between Arsenal and Chelsea was a fair result.
The French striker scored after barely a minute and then with a cheeky free-kick on the half-hour. Each time Chelsea equalised. However Henry could have won it with 14 minutes left. He exchanged passes with Francesc Fabregas on the edge of the area before hurtling to the far post to meet a low cross from Robert Pires. He was eight yards out with only two Chelsea defenders to beat on the line but sidefooted wide.
“Robert gave me a great ball but I had to stretch for it and it took a bit of a bounce,” he said. “Sometimes it goes like that. Remember Lampard could have scored with his head just before that for them.
“That was the way it was. They had a chance and we had a chance so overall it was a fair result.”
Henry was also impressed with the spirit in which the game was played.
“They wanted to play football and we wanted to play,” he said. “There were no bad tackles and no kicking. When it happens people talk about it so when it doesn’t happen I feel we have to talk about it too.”
