In a week where everybody seems to have an opinion to the state of the Premiership title race, Arsenal's Dutch maestro, Dennis Bergkamp, joined in with some thoughts of his own.

With Chelsea having surged into a four-point lead to overtake Arsenal in recent weeks, and with Manchester United stuttering at Fulham on Monday, the title race does seem as hard to call as ever, especially with David Moyes' Everton showing such outstanding resilient form and gatecrashing the party in second.

Bergkamp stressed the key thing about the Premiership race is to stay in touch over the Christmas and New Year period.

"You do realise once you play in this country that there are a lot of games that can win you points and a lot of games that can lose you points. Now is the crucial part of the season to stay in touch with everyone," he told Sky Sports News.

"For us at Arsenal, it's very important to get into these games and get our football back on track again. I think we started well this week [versus Chelsea] and if we can carry on like that, a lot of games will help."

Arsenal have seen their season stutter of late, but with qualification for the next phase of the UEFA Champions League now confirmed, they should be able to relax and get back into their impressive stride.

Some of their football against Chelsea on Sunday showed signs of the fluid best they are capable of. As ever Thierry Henry, Sunday's two-goal hero, is key to their progress.

Bergkamp went on: "I think it is too early to say who will be there at the end. At the moment, Arsenal and Chelsea are setting the pace, but as we know it is a long, hard season in England, with a lot of important games. Now we have the FA Cup too.

"We've sorted our November blip out and now we're ready to continue in the right vein."
