2003 was a memorable year for Arsenal fans. We take a look back at the highs and lows of the year through the eyes, and quotes, of the Arsenal manager Ars鑞e Wenger...
"Yes, Thierry wanted to come off for a hamstring injury so I got Aliadiere ready. But just at that moment we got the ball again and I was surprised how it made a difference. Perhaps he knew it would be his last time he was on the pitch and gave that extra effort to score that goal."
On Henry just before he scored the third at Inter - November 25
"We got a big blow mentally when we lost the championship, but this is a remarkable group of players. Many teams would have let it go when they were down but we have shown mental strength by responding against Southampton and Sunderland in the League and again today by winning this trophy. It shows how strong these guys are."
After the FA Cup final victory - May 17
"Last week at Bolton. We were 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go then we lost three players injured in five minutes and could not get anybody back. If you add Patrick Vieira and Sol Campbell to that, when you lose half of the army it is always difficult."
On the turning point of the season's title campaign. Speaking after the defeat at home to Leeds - May 4
"We played against a good team and it was very tight. If we had scored first it would have been a very different game. You have games like that when the opponents have the ball and score. If you look at the possession and the shots on goal there was not much between us. We never quite found our flow and they defended in an intelligent way."
On Inter's 3-0 victory at Highbury - September 17
"I cannot say we will not lose a game all season now because we have lost one already."
On the 1-0 loss to Peterbrough in pre-season - July 11
"We are very disappointed. We were on top of the game in the first half but didn't take advantage of it. Valencia had one shot on goal in the first half and we found ourselves 1-0 down at half-time. Maybe we lost the game when we got it back to 1-1 because we dropped too much physically. We didn't create any more chances and Valencia were stronger physically than us - a reversal of the first half."
After the 2-1 defeat against Valencia that knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League - March 19
"There was skepticism when I arrived in England, but this shows that I have now been accepted by the country. It is recognition that I have tried to do my work properly. I have learned to be mentally strong because it is not always easy. I learned to improve because people are always demanding more and football means so much here. I have learned to master my job because there is so much involved in it, and I believe I have become a more complete manager than I was when I arrived here."
Collecting his honorary OBE - July 11
"He scored his 100th goal today and it highlights how good this guy has been for the club. I am happy that he scored the goal on a day like today. It shows he has put in everything against a team like Oxford. And, anyway, it was quite a good goal."
On Bergkamp's 100th goal for Arsenal - January 4
"Well, I saw the qualities he had, with his movement, his dribbling and his passing. He needed convincing at the start, but I don't think he needs that now! I think he's a fantastic striker, he's only 25 years old and he has only played in this position for three years. That is exceptional. I think he can get better."
On converting Henry into a striker - January 11 the day the striker got his 100th goal for Arsenal
"It is difficult to find the talent he has and so you need to give him every chance. At the moment he has gone through a difficult period. It is important that the club helps the players through these things."

“和我们对抗的是一只出色的球队。如果我们首先进球的话，那么比赛的结果就会大相径庭。对手会得到球并进球了，你总会遇到这种情况。如果你看看控球时间和射门数，你就会发现我们之间的实力并没有什么差距。我们并不是太适应比赛的节奏，而他们的防守却显得十分的聪明。”

“我们感到非常的失望。在上半场我们还完全占据了上风，但是却并没有因此而得到进球。巴伦西亚在上半场仅有一次射门，在半场休息的时候我们就发现居然1-0落后了。当我们把比分扳成1-1的时候也许我们就已经输掉了比赛，因为我们的体力消耗太大了。我们没有创造更多的机会，巴伦西亚比我们的体力更为充沛。这和上半场完全相反。”
------3月19日。在同巴伦西亚的比赛中以1-2失利，阿森纳从冠军联赛中出局后
“当我来到英格兰的时候，就有很多对我的能力持怀疑态度的人，但是这说明我并不为这个国家所接受。众所周知我对工作尽心竭力。我学习到必须要有很强的心理压力承受能力，因为不可能永远都这么简单。我学习到要不断的提高自己，因为人们总是希望能要求更多，在这里足球的含义非常多。我学习着慢慢胜任自己的工作，因为这其中涉及得非常复杂，我相信比起刚来到这里的时候我现在变成了一个更彻底的经理了。”
