Terry Foster of The Detroit News predicts the first round of Tuesday's NBA draft:
1. Milwaukee: Andrew Bogut, 7-0, C, Utah: He will become an immediate starter. But Bogut must display more toughness to hang with the Pistons' front line.
2. Atlanta: Marvin Williams, 6-8, F, North Carolina: He has the best chance of becoming an NBA superstar. But if he stays in Atlanta, he will never reach his potential.
3. Portland: Gerald Green, 6-8, G, Gulf Shores Academy H.S. (Texas): There is speculation the Blazers will go with point guard Chris Paul because they were turned off by Green's refusal to go up against other players in workouts. But Green is a natural fit here.
4. New Orleans: Chris Paul, 6-1, G, Wake Forest: He is the best point guard since Jason Kidd, and the young Hornets desperately need him after trading Baron Davis.
5. Charlotte: Deron Williams, 6-3, G, Illinois: Some believe he is the best point guard in the draft, but he is not as athletic and his shooting touch is a shade behind Paul.
6. Utah: Danny Granger, F, New Mexic A few weeks ago he was not a lottery pick but worked himself into one with great workouts and might remind you of Scottie Pippin.
7. Toront Raymond Felton, 6-0, G, North Carolina: Do you get the picture by now? Point guard is this year's hot position. Felton loves transition basketball and penetrating the lane.
8. N.Y. Knicks: Channing Frye, 6-11, C, Arizona: Isiah Thomas loves athletes, but he also needs a big man for a short front line. Frye is no franchise center but could become the next Marcus Camby.
9. Golden State: Sean May, 6-9, F, North Carolina: The Warriors have picked up some nice athletic pieces and will probably add one more. But they need a dirty down-low player and May is the best choice.
10. L.A. Lakers: Ike Diogu, 6-8, F, Arizona State: The Lakers need a power forward over a point guard. Diogu can power between defenders if Kobe Bryant passes to him.
11. Orland Martell Webster, 6-7, G/F, Seattle Prep: He is a long-range shooter, and the Magic have a tradition of going for soft scorers.
12. L.A. Clippers: Fran Vazquez, 6-10, F/C, Spain: He is NBA-ready, and dropping to the Clippers is a great break for one of the worst franchises in NBA history.
13. Charlotte: Joey Graham, 6-7, F, Oklahoma State: He is strong and can attack inside.
14. Minnesota: Charlie Villanueva, 6-11, F, Connecticut: He can give Kevin Garnett help inside, but can also step outside for offense.
15. New Jersey: Andrew Bynum, 7-0, C, St. Joseph's of Metuchen (N.J.) H.S.: Teams can always use a big man inside who can score, and Bynum has improved quickly.
16. Toront Antoine Wright, 6-7, G, Texas A&M: The Raptors can use his ability in the open court and he is a threat with the deep ball.
17. Indiana: Jarrett Jack, 6-3, G, Georgia Tech: Although Jamaal Tinsley is there, they need a backup to compete with the Pistons.
18. Boston: Hakim Warrick, 6-9, F, Syracuse: He attacks the glass and is getting a better feel for the game.
19. Memphis: Rashad McCants, 6-4, G, North Carolina: He has baggage, but he can shoot and create.
20. Denver: Francisco Garcia, 6-7, G, Louisville: The Nuggets are talking about packaging their two first-round picks to get a guard, but they might be able to get Garcia.
21. Phoenix: Johan Petro, 7-1, C, France: If he can turn into a productive center, the Suns can move Amare Stoudemire to power forward.
22. Denver: Ersan Ilyasova, 6-9, F, Turkey: Why not gamble here? He is talented, but a broken ankle lowered his stock.
23. Sacrament Chris Taft, 6-10, F, Pittsburgh: He is the most talented frontline guy left, though you would not know it by his inconsistent play.
24. Houston: Wayne Simien, 6-9, F, Kansas: Let's face it, Yao Ming is soft. The Rockets need a bruiser.
25. Seattle: Julius Hodge, 6-7, G, North Carolina State: This is tough to predict because the Sonics have eight free agents, so they really don't know what they need.
26. Detroit: Ryan Gomes, 6-7, F, Providence: Here is the backup to Tayshaun Prince the Pistons covet. Gomes could be a better offensive player than Prince because he is better on the block.
27. Utah: Randolph Morris, 6-10, C, Kentucky: The Jazz always need centers, but Morris is inconsistent.
28. San Antoni Roko Ukic, 6-5, G, Croatia: The Spurs need more size in the backcourt, and he can defend guards that give Tony Parker fits (like Chauncey Billups).
29. Miami: Martynas Andriuskevicius, 7-3, C, Lithuania: Start looking for Shaq's replacement.
30. N.Y. Knicks: Monta Ellis, 6-3, G, Lanier (Miss.) H.S.: Isiah Thomas would show him the ropes.
