Dacourt could return to France |
Olivier Dacourt is more likely to join Lyon than Arsenal if he leaves Roma this summer, according to his agent.
The 30-year-old midfielder, formerly of Leeds, had been linked with Arsenal but his agent, Bruno Satin, said: "We've had no news from Arsenal.
"It's hard to know where these latest claims have come from. There has been no contact recently.
"I met the Lyon people on Wednesday - Olivier might be interesting them if Michael Essien goes to Chelsea."
However, Satin admitted: "But so far there's nothing firm from Lyon."
The midfielder, who has one year left on his deal at Roma, had been tipped as a short-term replacement for Patrick Vieira at Arsenal.
Davourt's agent previously said: "Olivier would fit the profile of what Mr Wenger is looking for.
"He has Premiership experience, he would not cost a lot of money and he would be available immediately."
But if Ghana international Essien leaves Lyon for Chelsea, Dacourt could yet move back to France.
Roma are keen to reduce their wage bill and could allow Dacourt to leave on a free transfer.
