CANNES, France (AFP)
- Ailing English Premiership giants Arsenal signed their second highly
promising teenager within a matter of weeks on Wednesday as they
secured the services of Frenchman Carl Parisio from thrid division side
Cannes.
The 16-year-old defender impressed Arsenal during the Zidane
tournament last close season - named after another of the many
luminaries to have begun their careers at the club - and confirmed his
promise at another one in Mexico at the end of last year.
Unlike the 12 million pounds (21.6 million dollars) they had
to pay Southampton for 16-year-old striker Theo Walcott, Arsenal did
not have to pay Cannes a penny for Parisio but have promised to
compensate the French side for their development costs.
Arsenal will hope that Parisio is as influential for them down
the years as another product from Cannes was, midfielder Patrick Vieira.
