Chelsea are close to tying up a deal for Rennes keeper Petr Cech, leaving Arsenal as clear favourites to sign Sebastien Frey.
Czech Republic international Cech will remain in France until the end of the season before clinching a lucrative switch to Stamford Bridge.
"It will be June or never," commented Rennes sports director Pierre Dreossi, but talks involving agents Pini Zahavi and Paul Smith have been positive.
Dreossi is reported to have reached an agreement with the agents on an ¿11.5 million deal that will see Cech sign a five-year contract with Claudio Ranieri's side in the summer.
It represents a huge profit for the Brittany side, who paid ¿4 million for the highly-rated shot-stopper in 2002.
The developments ensure Arsenal are firm favourites to snap up Parma's unsettled number one Frey.
As reported on Friday, the Frenchman has admitted he is close to moving to London, and the only stumbling block is believed to be the asking price - around ¿15 million.
However, Parma's well-documented financial problems should allow Arsene Wenger to land his man, probably at the end of the campaign.
