And the player's agent has confirmed that Arsenal have already made an offer for the player they took on trial in 2002.
"Arsenal made an offer to Olympiakos for Yaya Toure," Alexis Alexandris told Greek sports paper FOS.
"This information didn't appear in the media because only three people knew about it - me, the president Mr Kokkalis and the vice-president Mr Louvaris.
"The offer was made at the beginning of 2006 and Olympiakos rejected it.
"I was the person who informed Olympiakos about this offer. I was the link between the agents and Olympiakos.
"Arsenal made a ?13 million (£8 million) offer to Olympiakos for Yaya Toure. Mr Louvaris told me that Olympiakos didn't want to sell the player before the summer."
