Clarence Seedorf has told Setanta Sports News that he has spoken with Milan target Emmanuel Adebayor, and that the Arsenal striker has told him he will come to the San Siro.
Adebayor sent out mixed messages on Friday with regards to his future by stating his happiness at the club before stating a move could still be in the offing.
The Togo international’s future has been an ongoing saga for some time now with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani stating his desire to bring the player to the fashion capital.
Adebayor appeared to have settled the matter early on Friday by saying he could see himself remaining at the North London outfit because of his contentment with life at Emirates Stadium. The 24-year-old even went so far as to explicitly say: “Yes, of course [I am staying]”.
However, just an hour later Adebayor backtracked and said his future would be decided within the next week.
Now Seedorf has further fanned the flames of speculation and made the situation even less clear with his revelation that he has spoken to Adebayor, who has told the Dutchman he intends to join the Rossoneri.
“When I spoke with him I said ‘I’m waiting for you’," Seedorf told Setanta Sports News.
“Let’s see what will happen. They’re [the press] talking about Adebayor and (Didier) Drogba. It’s not concrete, it’s a lot of talk. He’s a great player and he will definitely be important if he comes.
“He already said that he would come, but it depends now on Arsenal if he stays there otherwise he comes to Milan.”
