Arsenal are closing in on Andrei Arshavin and could complete the transfer later today. Zenit St Petersburg general director Maxim Mitrofanov spent Sunday in talks with the Premier League club, reports the Daily Mail. And the Russians have indicated the two clubs are finally close to agreeing a fee for the 27-year-old striker. Arsenal have been reluctant to increase their £12million bid while Zenit had hoped to raise £20m, but that is now a non-starter. Instead, the deal could rise to around £15m, dependent on appearances. Arsenal are understood to have set today as a deadline for any deal.
