Match Report
ARSE WENGER
...on the game
"We are disappointed because we feel it was the kind of game we did not deserve to lose. We had the first chances, and if you look at what Man United created, you can see why we are disappointed. It was a very beatable Man United team today. We felt we would get the chance in the second half when we had all the domination. Overall I think we were a little bit unlucky to lose the game, but United fought hard.
"They defended well, they did as much as they could and they did it well. After we had the early chances they scored a good goal from Scholes. After that they just played in their half to defend the lead, which was understandable. We couldn't find the opening because we were a little hurried and we lacked a little bit of vision around the box, and also because of the quality of their defending."
...on injuries to Reyes and Ljungberg
"It is bad news and we are disappointed that we went out, but we also lost two players today. There was a very bad tackle on Reyes. Scholes and Keane got away with some very bad tackles.
"Unfortunately we lose Reyes for three weeks because of the tackle of Scholes. Reyes has hurt a medial knee ligament. We have lost Ljungberg with a broken hand as well. With the schedule we have at the moment, it is a blow to lose players as well as the game."
...on his decision to rest Henry
"Thierry Henry played in midweek. He came back very tired and we have four games in eight days. These guys are only human beings and of course our priorities are the championship and the Champions League."
