Manchester City are in talks over a possible £25m move for Emmanuel Adebayor, Sky Sports News has reported. The Togo international has previously attracted interest from Chelsea and Milan, with the Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, believed to be ready to let the 25-year-old leave.
City are due to commence their pre-season tour of South Africa this week and are keen to have any deal in place before then. Neither club has commented on the matter, although they are understood to be in discussions. Wenger has previously refused to guarantee that Adebayor would remain an Arsenal player after an indifferent season.
Arsenal would probably target the Bordeaux forward Marouane Chamakh if a deal with City does go through. Wenger has admitted his interest in the 25-year-old, but claimed that an approach would be made "only in the event of a departure".
