Barcelona vice-president Sandro Rosell has admitted Camp Nou supremo Joan Laporta held talks with Ruud van Nistelrooy's agent Roger Linse but stressed there is no immediate plan to bring the Manchester United striker to Catalunya.
Rossell, who did admit several enquiries have been made to Arsenal in an audacious attempt to lure Thierry Henry to the club, was speaking soon after a spokesman for United claimed the suggestion that the Old Trafford outfit's top scorer might head for Barca was 'rubbish'.
"It was a very familiar and informal meeting between Ruud van Nistelrooy's agent and our president," Rosell told Sky Sports News. "Van Nistelrooy's agent's wife is Catalan and from Barcelona.
"If, for whatever reason, our technicians would be interested in him, the first thing we would do is talk to the club. We never go through the players."
As for Henry, Rosell was less guarded about Barca's interest in the fabulous French forward.
"It's not a secret we like this player," he added. "Of course we would be interested in him if he is available but we have been talking to Arsenal many times and they inform us that it is not a possibility."
Van Nistelrooy is still nursing the knee injury that has kept him sidelined recently, but the Dutch attacker is desperate to regain fitness in order to take his place in the FA Cup final against Millwall next month.
