Juventus prepare to offer Felipe Melo to Arsenal in exchange for Robin van Persie
Reports from Italy suggest Juventus are preparing to offer out-of-favour midfielder Felipe Melo to Arsenal in exchange for Robin van Persie.
The Italian side are looking to make wholesale changes this summer after a disappointing campaign, with the Gunners' Dutch hitman at the top of their transfer list. And, according to the Daily Mirror, they believe the offer of Brazilian Melo might convince Arsene Wenger to do business.
Melo was reportedly Arsenal's top target last summer, but chose the Old Lady over the Emirates Stadium after leaving Fiorentina. But after a difficult season with his new club, Juve would be prepared to offload the 26-year-old
Wenger has admitted that Melo is still of interest to the Gunners, saying last month: "We still think he is a very talented player."
The reports also suggested that Gianluigi Buffon might be used as part of the deal, considering Arsenal's need for a decent shot-stopper, although the Italian has frequently denied his interest in a move away from Turin.
