Robert Pires says the rivalry is already heating up with his Arsenal team-mates over France's clash with England. The Euro 2004 Group B rivals begin their campaigns against each other in Lisbon on 13 June and Pires said: "Even though we're facing friends, they will not be giving us any presents. It will be a hard match."
"Ashley Cole has already turned up the heat. He said if he plays against me he won't meet any problem because I will find myself in his pocket. But I know how to get out of his pocket easily with a magic trick and I have the secret."

Pires, in an interview with France Football magazine, explained why Jacques Santini's squad will not be overconfident. The Arsenal midfielder said: "The French team are favourites but we are always the team to beat. And we must not fall into the same trap as two years ago. Everyone said before the World Cup, 'It will be easy for them - they are in a group with Senegal, Uruguay and Denmark'. You saw what happened. England, Croatia and Switzerland - all three will be difficult."
