Newcastle United have insisted that goalkeeper Shay Given is 'not for sale' after he was linked with both Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Irish international was reported to be unsettled due to the lack of success during his seven years at St James' Park.
The 28-year-old joined Newcastle in 1997 from Blackburn, but he has no medals to show for his time on Tyneside.
Arsenal and Manchester United are again both said to be in the market for a new number one and there are few better in The Premiership than Given.
However, Newcastle supremo Freddy Shepherd has dismissed any suggestions that Given could be allowed to leave the club.
"There is absolutely no chance of Shay Given leaving St James' Park and nobody has contacted us about him," said Shepherd.
"He is not for sale and that's the end of the story."
Given also distanced himself from the reports.
"I am baffled by these reports because I have not spoken to anyone," he said.
"I am as frustrated as anyone by our lack of success but I want to stay and win things with Newcastle."
