对于60和70年代的老摇滚乐迷来说，通常被称为ccr的“清水合唱团／creedence clearwater revival”（完整的译名应该是“克理登斯复兴清水合唱团”）无疑是他们的最爱之一。ccr的吸引人之处在于主唱、也是灵魂人物的john fogerty的那粗旷中带着点儿蓝调、带着点儿fats domino风味的嗓音。fogerty于45年5月出生于加州。精通各种乐器，而且拥有出色的创作才华。基本上所有专辑里面的歌曲的谱写演奏编曲都由他一人承担。成员还包括吉他手tom fogerty（也是他的大哥），钢琴手stu cook，鼓手 doug "cosmo"clifford。乐队最初发展并不顺利，名称一变再变，一开始叫“蓝丝绒”，后来又在唱片公司安排下改成“丑木偶”都不成功，直到67年改名为“清水合唱团”发行了两首翻唱的老歌“suzie q”和“i put a spell on you”才受到舆论的好评。接着在69年和70年，一系列专辑和单曲的成功发行使他们成为美国市场上最强劲的摇滚乐队之一，并在69年8月参加woodstock音乐节，成为当时第二受欢迎的乐队。
到72年ccr解散的时候，他们已经拿到8张金唱片，数十首歌曲在世界各地排行榜上去的了好成绩。
