Four goals in a thrilling second-half saw Arsenal and West Ham share the points at Upton Park.
Goals from Nacer Barazite and Mark Randall were cancelled out by first Jordan Spence and then Tony Stokes, as the Gunners lost the lead twice.
The point means Arsenal are still unbeaten on the road this season, but Neil Banfield will feel his team threw away a good opportunity to keep the pressure on Aston Villa at the top of the league.
