Stoke player of the season could seal move to Arsenal on Sunday
He can play as a centre back and a defensive midfielder, is completely dominant in the air and is an experienced Premier League performer. These attributes have led to Faye being named Stoke’s players’ player of the season and fans’ player of the season.
The 31-year-old Senegalese international would be available for around £5million .Senegal have not qualified for the African Nations Cup next season so he would be an ideal player to fill out the squad and help bring out some aggression in our players.
Just having him steaming around the training pitches would sharpen up our youngsters and give them the physical edge that they sometimes lack in the biggest games. Faye may lack the skill to play the Wenger way but he would certainly give us more security at set pieces where teams, such as Stoke, look so dangerous against us. Faye is certainly not an archetypal Wenger signing but the boss has admitted that we have been short defensively and, in certain matches, Faye would provide him with an ideal solution.
Stoke taught us a real lesson at the Britannia earlier in the season and if they can replicate that display at the Emriates, Abdoulaye Faye could be having a conversation with Arsene Wenger before too long.
