Mathieu Flamini signs for Arsenal

French Under-21 international Mathieu Flamini has today signed a long-term contract with Arsenal Football Club.
Flamini (20) joins after spending 15 years with French side Marseille, having worked his way through the youth system before making his League debut last December against Toulouse.
The right-sided midfielder went on to make 14 League appearances last season, and nine in the UEFA Cup which included a starting place in the Final against Valencia. Mathieu was also involved in both victories over Liverpool and Newcastle.
On the international stage, Flamini has represented his country at Under-21 level and was integral to the side's participation in the 32nd Festival de Toulon which France won for the eighth time in the tournament's history.
Manager Arsène Wenger said: "We’re very pleased to welcome Mathieu to the Club. He may be young, but already he has a good level of top flight experience.
"He is very powerful and plays with great creativity, both as a defensive and attacking midfielder, and will be a tremendous addition to our squad."
Upon joining his new club, Flamini said: "I am really happy to be joining a Club which has been so successful in recent times and throughout its long history.
"The squad is full of top class players and I know that I will learn a lot from them all. It's a very exciting time for me, and I'm looking forward to meeting up with my new team mates very soon."
Mathieu will immediately join up with his new team mates for pre-season training and his squad number will be confirmed shortly.

Joined Marseille, his only previous club, at the age of just 5 years old in 1989.
Made his debut for Marseille first team aged 19 years old (v Toulouse (h) 20 Dec 2003 - won 1-0)
Flamini was integral to the French Under-21s' participation in the 32nd Festival de Toulon which France won for the eighth time in the tournament's history, beating Sweden 1-0 in the Final on 10 June 2004.
