Pires on Arsenal kids
Robert Pires insists Arsenal抯 young guns would have helped the club cope with Patrick Vieira抯 loss. Midfielder Pires reckons the Gunners could still challenge on all fronts - even if skipper Vieira had joined Real Madrid last week. And the swashbuckling French ace puts this down to the quality of youngsters coming through at Highbury.
He said: "When you see what Cesc Fabregas has done at only 17, it抯 mind-blowing. Robin van Persie is a very good one who can play anywhere in attack. Jermaine Pennant and Gael Clichy were both excellent in the Community Shield, too.

But Pires insisted he is delighted Vieira decided to stay. He added: "It goes without saying we would not have been happy to see Patrick go. Everyone knows what an important player he is for us. But I assure you that our personal bond with the club - and I抦 speaking of the other Frenchmen in the squad - would not have been affected."
