Wenger confirmed that Robert Pires has only 'a very small chance' of recovering from the foot injury that kept him out today in time for Wednesday's Champions League trip to Rosenborg, while fellow midfielder Gilberto Silva has been ruled out with a thigh strain.

Wenger: "Pires should play tomorrow"

Arsene Wenger will be without Gilberto for "at least one month" while the Brazilian midfielder recovers from a back injury. Dennis Bergkamp and long-term absentee Jeremie Aliadiere are also absent from Arsenal's 19-man squad, but Robert Pires is in contention for a starting place after shaking off a foot injury. "Robert is with us and should play tomorrow," said Wenger.
