[em09][em09]Julio Baptista has hit out Sevilla fans who jeered him during a friendly game and reiterated his desire to stay the club for another year at least.
The Brazilian international scored during his side's 5-1 win over Pilas on Thursday evening, but was whistled by some sections of the fans for stating that he has no intention of extending his contract with the club.
"Those people that whistled me, I do not why they are doing it," he said. "But they will change their opinion.
"I do not have to demonstrate anything to anyone, because I have already done in that the last two seasons in the Spanish league.
"Those that doubt me will continue to doubt me, but they will soon have to stop."
Despite mixed reports emanating from Highbury over Arsenal's bid to take him to the Premiership, Baptista repeated that his priority is to stay in Spain in order to earn him a European passport: "That has not changed," he said.
Stories suggesting that Gunners vice-chairman David Dein had flown to Sevilla to tie up a deal were wide of the mark according to the player nicknamed 'The Beast'.
"At the moment there is nothing new," he explained. "There are several interested clubs but the last word is mine and that is what counts.
"The decision will be made by myself and my agents."
If Baptista chooses to remain at Sevilla then the Andalucian club will have four non-EU players on their books for next season, but the Spanish League only allows three to be registered.
