ARSENAL are on the verge of a shock £10million swoop for France World Cup star Franck Ribery. The Marseille midfielder has turned down a move to French champions Lyon so he can link up with Les Bleus team-mate Thierry Henry. Boss Arsene Wenger has been a fervent admirer of the playmaker since he first spotted him with France in a youth tournament more than three years ago. And Ribery, 23, is a ready-made replacement for Robert Pires, who has quit Gunners for Spanish side Villareal. He will represent Wenger’s second World Cup signing. Arsenal also splashed £6m on Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky from Borussia Dortmund before the finals.
