Edu to extend Arsenal contract

Arsenal midfielder Edu is close to extending his contract, according to his agent.

The Brazilian international, whose contractexpires this summer, and Gunners manager Arsene Wenger have been inmuch-publicised disagreements of late, prompting reports of a possibletransfer.

The 26-year-old had been delaying negotiations but on Sunday his agent, Jean Gaspar, said that Edu was close to signing.

Gaspar told Sky Sports: "The latest meeting was much better.

"And it indicated that Edu's contract renewal could happen soon."

Manchester United, Barcelona and Valencia have all expressed interest in acquiring the player.
