Hamburg have admitted they held talks with Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb.
Reports on Wednesday suggested Hamburg were lining up a move for Hleb after being spotted holding talks with the player in London.
The talks were reportedly aimed at securing a return back to Die Bundesliga for Hleb after just one year at Arsenal.
Hleb, however, moved quickly to play down speculation over his future at Arsenal insisting he was happy at Highbury.
Hamburg have raised further doubts over Hleb's long-term future at Arsenal confirming they talked with the Belarus international, although they refused to divulge why they met with the former Stuttgart man.
"Our official Michael Schroeder did meet with Alexander Hleb in London on Monday, but it was only for a drink," Hamburg sports director Dietmar Beiersdorfer told the Daily Express.
The revelation is sure to
increase speculation that Hleb could be on his way out of Arsenal this
summer after failing to establish himself as a regular under Arsene
Wenger.
