Wenger sets title challenge Arsene Wenger has expressed his surprise at Chelsea's capitulation in the Premiership title race, which Arsenal won with four games to spare.
"I don't think Chelsea realised how close they were to winning it but Easter arrived and they wasted their opportunity," Wenger said.
And the Gunners manager is also hoping to see Manchester United put up more of a fight next season.
"I enjoy our rivalry but it has been too quiet between us this season."
And that silence has been most notable between the respective managers, Wenger and United's Sir Alex Ferguson.
The pair's end-of-season mind games have become an annual ritual in the media in recent years but this season there has been only silence.
"We locked horns before because we were both challenging for the title," Wenger added.
"This season we've been in front virtually from the start so there has been no point.
"We led a marathon virtually from the first gun and it is something I am justifiably proud of."
But Wenger believes his latest victory will ensure Ferguson stays at the Old Trafford helm for some time yet.
"We both want the best and we've tested each other and I'm sure he won't rest until he gets the title back. It's my job to ensure he doesn't," Wenger added.
"Arsenal and United are two of the richest clubs in football and we both want and demand success.
"I've won three championship titles and the FA Cup three times. I'm extremely proud of what I've achieved but I want more.
"Alex will always claim my record is all right but then put up his Champions League victory.
"It's a fair point, but I'm younger. I still have time on my side."

不管怎么说，我认为曼联和阿森纳的发展方向都是比较正确的，那就是注重对后备力量的培养，而今天的皇马恰恰就是吃亏在这个环节．．．
恶性循环的中国足球更是如此．．．
