Toure sent for x-rays on foot injury Arsène Wenger is keeping his fingers crossed that the injury Kolo Toure picked up at Everton last night is not serious. The defender limped off in the 20th minute with a foot injury and was replaced by Lauren. The Ivory Coast international had received treatment for a knock a few minutes earlier but could not run it off. "Kolo got a kick on his foot and he had to come off," said Wenger. "Hopefully it is not too bad and his foot is not broken." The manager added that x-rays will be undertaken as soon as possible. All's fine on the home front says Wenger The home comforts of Highbury have been self-evident this season. From the first 10 home games of their Premiership campaign, Arsenal have gained 26 points with only Fulham and Portsmouth avoiding defeat. (In fact the only loss at Highbury in any competition was that surprise 3-0 reverse to Inter in the Champions League back in September.) Increasingly, visiting teams are arriving with a safety-first attitude, packing the midfield, defending deeply and hoping to grab what they can on the break. Arsène Wenger knows that, more often than not, it is up to his team to prise an opening. "I accept every way of playing," he said. "It just means that we have to find a solution. "If a team comes with five across the middle of the park and you don't win, the next team will do the exactly the same. That is why it is important to win and not let the system against us play on our minds." The manager believes that a lot depends on the likes of Patrick Vieira and Gilberto in such circumstances. "You are two versus three in the middle," he said. "So your two central midfielders need to keep working hard because that is where you could have trouble." There was little problem on Saturday with both players turning in impressive performances. "Middlesbrough tried to play football but, for me, we were sharper on the day," said Wenger. "We have now beaten them and Blackburn, who played that way. Fulham got a draw playing like that but at the end of the game we had 24 shots and they had one. Exclusive: Wenger on Seaman the 'legend' Arsène Wenger has heaped praise on David Seaman after the former Arsenal goalkeeper announced his retirement from football yesterday. The Frenchman took the helm at Highbury in September 1996, roughly halfway through Seaman's 13-year spell with the Gunners and this afternoon told Arsenal.com about the contribution he made to the Club. "His record speaks for him," said Wenger. "He has been a legend and I feel that history will give him his real place because he has not always got the credit he deserved. "It needs a special strength to take the pressure when you play both here at Arsenal and for your national team. You are in the spotlight and will always be criticised. "But, whenever he was criticised, he was always strong enough to respond. When you might have expected him to fail, he always came back with a strong performance. "He has a mixture of a laid-back attitude and mental strength. You might think maybe this guy does not care too much but when he is challenged he has a resolute, iron attitude which makes him stronger than anybody else. "Frankly, it took me by surprise that he has decided to quit now. The fact he chose to move to Manchester City and not stay here convinced me that he wanted to go on for more than one year. But then, if Wenger had had his way, Seaman would never have left in the summer after making his 564th and final appearance for the Club in the FA Cup Final victory over Southampton last May.
